2nd Venue Review - 54 on Bath Hotel

The first EON member Networking Lunch was such a success, that 54 on Bath Hotel, a state of the art conference venue in Rosebank, Johannesburg requested another three networking events.

This peer review is sourced from the second group of qualified EON conference and event venue buyer members who attended the event.

The days program consisted of a detailed review of the conference and function venues, the accommodation facilities and of course the requisite sampling of the 5 star menu and wine list.

The cherry on the top was a Keynote address by Lynn Baker on the subject of 'Death by PowerPoint' and how to avoid it.

This is what our Western Cape EON members had to say about the African Pride Crystal Towers Hotel, one of the leading conference venues in Cape Town.

Review - Member Networking Event @ Faircity Quatermain Hotel

The Faircity Quatermain Hotel in Sandton played host to a selection of 30 of our corporate EON members for a networking lunch.

Joni & Celynn of Feel Fab presented an eye-opening talk on how simple it is to actually Feel Fab every day, by following a few simple diet and lifestyle rules.

Just as well, because a delicious lunch was on offer as part of the program as well as a site inspection of the facilities.

Couldn't attend? Not to worry. You still benefit by what is probably the most important aspect of these networking events, next to the actual networking that is, and that is the venue review, prepared from the evaluation by attending members.

Review - Networking Event @ Focus Rooms

Focus Rooms Conference Facility was recently the gracious host of one of our Networking Lunch Events.

48 of our EON members attended and in addition to an up close and personal experience of the venue, members were treated to a thought provoking talk by Douglas Kruger, one of SA's top conference speakers.

When you consider the title of his talk 'Braingasms' you can bet it was going to be interesting and interesting it was.

Now you can view the review. The evaluation, conducted by attending members, covers food, staff, value for money and comments about Douglas's keynote address.

Evaluation- Sparkling Waters

Sparkling Waters Hotel and Spa and a selection of our EON members got to know each other firsthand during one of EON's venue educationals over the weekend of 4th and 5th of May 2013.

Sparkling Waters is a well known conference venue in Magaliesberg, North West Province.

Not only did members experience the venue facilities, but also enjoyed an action packed program of activities, including the beautiful canopy tours and then a relaxing spa treatment.

Venue Evaluation - Riverside Sun. February 2013

On arrival, EON Members were greeted and directed to the gardens and pool deck for morning snacks and refreshments. At 10am we were taken to the conference centre, offered tea and coffee and ushered into one of the venues set up in a School room layout. The GM proceeded to give a rundown of the resort’s facilities, such as accommodation, conference room layouts, teambuilding ideas and future plans for the hotel which was done in an interesting and entertaining fashion, including photos and video clips!

We then moved next door where a stunning and elegant mock gala dinner layout had been set up to view. A tour of the upgraded bedrooms, with all mod cons and flat screen tv’s was next on the agenda followed by a walk through the beautifully manicured gardens. A point of interest is that tea/coffee stations can be set up in various areas of the garden, giving delegates variety during conference breaks.

After this it was all aboard the Liquid Lounge for a 1 ½ hr cruise along the river. Topless waiters served cocktails on board and entertained us with trying to dance to Gangnam style!! Delegates were asked to pick a number out of a bowl for a chance to win a weekend away at Riverside, little did we know this entailed a “Fashion Show” as we were called up one by one to “Strut our Stuff” to the resident DJ’s music amidst much clapping and cheering. Well done to the winners!

Compliments to the chef whose luncheon on board was delicious and beautifully presented, light and different. I could have eaten the mushrooms and phyllo pastry baskets all day and my colleague said the chocolate fairy cakes were to die for!

On November 25th 2012, we hosted 8 of our Event Organiser members to another magnificent educational at the stunning 5 star Walkersons Hotel and Spa, situated in the rolling hills of the Mpumalanga highlands, outside the hamlet of Dullstroom, 2.5 hours away from Johannesburg.

Our Recommendation
Walkersons is ideally suited for middle to senior management conferences. The five star grading is reflected in the pricing, which is aimed for those corporations with a sense of style and a budget to match.

The upmarket decor, finishes, cuisine and beautiful location makes Walkersons an idyllic wedding venue and for those of you needing a serene, calm and peaceful honeymoon destination or just a weekend away, Walkersons is certainly worth considering.

Venue Review - Amanzingwe Lodge

A selection of our Event Organiser Network members were recently invited to experience an overnight venue educational to the 4 star Amanzingwe Lodge, situated near Hartebeespoort dam in Gauteng.

The review below comprises:
  • Our review of the venue and activities and
  • A graphical peer review by the attending Event Organiser Network members.
Our Review.
Recommendation:
Amanzingwe is ideal for middle to senior management conferences and teambuilding. The location and setting, make it perfect for weddings and functions or even just Sunday lunch.

Conference facilities are modern and well equipped and located away from the main venue. The teambuilding facilities are excellent. Apart from the normal fare, the Amanzingwe Zipline and Unimog experience add a much needed uniqueness to the teambuilding options on offer.

Conference Venue Review - Legend Golf & Safari Resort - Limpopo Province South Africa

Our Recommendation
We have no hesitation in recommending this venue as an ideal venue for middle to senior management events. In our opinion, the venue is appropriately rated as a 5 star venue by South African Standards, but with minor improvements in staff training and food quality consistency, the venue will raise the bar even higher.
