Venue Review - Randlords & Lamunu June 2014

It's amazing that in the heart of the Braamfontien you are still able to find beauty. At the Randlords & Lamunu venue experiences in June this year a selection of EON members had an opportunity to experience these firsthand.

We started at the Lamunu meeting room with a little welcome snack before we took a short walking tour of the new refurbished and very colourful Braamfontien. The area really has been on the up lately and is looking good.

After our walk we arrived at Randlords. The venue has a view to die for, as it overlooks the Johannesburg skyline. This venue is perfect for your end of year functions. The food at the venue is truly amazing, we got to taste a variety of dishes that the venue has to offer.

Overall it was a day to remember with good people, good food, a beautiful view and amazing host staff.

Misty Hills is truly a place where Luxury, tranquillity & hospitality meet. Part of the Recreation Africa Group, and affiliated to the renowned Warwick International Group of hotels, this charming stone-built complex embodies the ethos of Africa. Set in more than 60 acres of lush botanical gardens.

In early April this year we took a selection of our EON members to see this incredibly beautiful venue and we were blown away. The scenery is absolutely breath-taking you truly feel like you are in a piece of paradise. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff in Misty Hills new reception area.

Venue Review - Randlords July 2014

Not many people think that a city can have beauty in it, much less Braamfontein in Johannesburg.

But hidden away is a diamond amongst the coal, a glimmer of beauty in the busy city. Randlords is one of the few places in Braamfontein where you will not only be treated to a gorgeous venue, but breathtaking views as well!

We took a a selection of professional event organisers to experience this venue, and "disappointed" was not one of the words used to describe the experience.

On the same day we visited The Lamunu Restaurant & Bar to experience their meeting room. Most of the Event Organisers who attended said that they would consider Lamunu for future events.

All-in-all it was an enjoyable day, and we were impressed with the professionalism of the venues!

Venue Review - Oaklands Country Manor May 2014

Nestled in the Drakensberg, is a gem of a conference venue, in one of the most beautiful places in the country. EON members departed from Johannesburg and headed for Van Reenen's Pass, headed for for Oaklands Country Manor, about a 3 hour drive from Johannesburg as well as Durban.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff who showed us our newly ronovated rooms for the night. After unpacking, we were off to experience some of the features that the Oaklands site had to offer. We were amazed at how beautiful the setting, as well as the site itself, really is.

Members climbed to the top of Happiness Rock and sipped champagne while atching the sun sink under the horizon.

After our main site inspection, we were shown the conference
facilities. The rustic setting made for a very unique feeling. The conference centre looks over the nearby dams, polo-field, horse paddocks, and the ever beautiful Drakensberg mountains.

The cuisine was beyond excellent. It's hard to describe how amazing the different mealtime menus are. You really have to experience the food to understand how good the chef is.

But, enough from us. See how our EON members rated Oaklands and view the comments here

Earlier this year we took a group of people through to see the venue. Through out the day we had good service from the staff around the beautiful property. The food was delicious and the good company that we were in during our time their made it even better.

The venue showed us a little bit of what they can do in terms of events and the team building activities with the help of Firebean a group that specialises in team building.

Riverstone gave us a small presentation on some of their Mozambique properties which gave some people ideas to host their end of year functions over the border this year for a little taste of something different.

Venue Review - Tintswalo Atlantic

You hear the term ‘one of a kind’ description often, but as you drive into the Table Mountain National Park on Chapmans peak drive, you can feel the tranquillity and awe of the unspoiled beauty that lies around you. Even though you just drove out of the city a few moments back, the remoteness and total privacy, along with the views across the bay, simply take your breath away.

The Tintswalo Atlantic is nestled on the water on the Atlantic Sea in Hout Bay, Cape Town. The attention to detail, understated elegance and almost perfect style leaves you with a feeling similar to the meaning of Tintswalo – ‘the intangible feeling of love and peace that you bestow on someone who has given you a meaningful and worthy gift’.

Almost all of the Event Organiser’s Network Educational party, both local and Gauteng based, are well travelled and used to being spoilt. However most were so taken by exquisite ten luxury suites, named and tailored after islands all around the world. The pebbled beach, wooden walkways in-between the unspoilt foliage and trees, the private decks, fire places in each room, make Tintswalo an astonishing romantic venue, perfect for a small wedding.

The regal presidential suite, as well as the hidden pool lounge area with gazebo, would suit an executive conference, where private lunches and dinners can be served, with the attention of the executive chef, to cater for their every need.

The day at Tintswalo Atlantic left us all feeling like we stepped into our own personal paradise. Certainly the writer has a new favourite destination, and is looking forward to returning to Cape Town’s very own best kept hide-away secret.

Venue Review - Constitution Hill

Constitution Hill Precinct in Braamfontein Johannesburg has a very complex history going back to 1892 when the Old Fort was built under the Zuid Afrikaanse Republiek. Functioning as a prison, except for the brief period of the South African War (1899-1902) when it was a military defence post, new buildings were added to the site in the late 1900s and early 20th Century:

Today, Constitution Hill is also a multi-purpose conference and Function venue with a variety of indoor and outdoor options for functions and conferences.

EON members visited Constitution Hill at the end of October 2013. View their review below and read their comments here

Venue Review - Maropeng Hotel

The Maropeng Hotel and Conference Centre EON venue educational was different. Apart from the awareness that you are in an area where some of the oldest humanoid fossils have been discovered, there was the excellent presentation by female palaeoanthropologist, Christine Steininger, who works in the Cradle of Human Kind

EON members were welcomed at the Marketplace and embarked on a journey of discovery through the exhibition and venue facilities.

After an amazing tour, members had to endure a complimentary Head and Neck massage whilst overlooking the view from the Hotel.  Sigh...

Then it was lunch followed by a Haute Couture Chocolate Table for dessert. And this is our job!
