EON 2013 Thanks You.

We would like to thank all those responsible for making EON 2013 Showcase in the words of our attending members, 'the best yet'

To our members, thanks for being there and bringing such enthusiasm, spirit and for creating an amazing vibe on the day. EON members ROCK.

630 delegates registered to attend the annual Event Organiser Network Showcase and Exhibition.

The 16th August arrived at last and so did a full house of Event Organiser Network members at the 6th annual Event Organiser Network Showcase and Exhibition.

With some delegates good-naturedly having to sit on the stairs in the The CSIR International Convention Centre auditorium, the days program was opened by Wayne Steven-Jennings MD of hosts, The Africa Conference Directory.

The event program featured:
  • 8 top conference speakers including comedian Mark Banks who closed the event with one of the most hilarious 30 minute impromptu comedy routines I have ever seen. To say that he had delegates crying in their seats would be an understatement of monumental proportions.

  • The speakers took delegates by storm, moving from intense emotional connections to the heights of hilarity.
  • Networking with 120 venue and event service exhibitors including representation from Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Mauritius and Zimbabwe.
  • A closing sun downer cocktail event on the CSIR deck.

The top prize of the day, sponsored by Island Light Holidays, was a 7 night trip for two to the 5 star LUX Grande Gaube Lodge in Mauritius, including flights for two, valued at R22000.00. Another 16 awesome prizes were awarded to lucky members during the day.

Delegates were given the opportunity to use and interact with state-of-the-art event technology. We showcased:
  • From Sponsors IML, each delegate was given a handheld console the size and shape of a smart phone on which they could view the program, speaker bio's and participate in a live quiz for awesome prizes. They were also able to experience how to conduct a short survey using the device as an electronic voting and answer platform with results instantly displayed on the auditoriums screens. 
  • From sponsors RentNet, who filmed each speaker and their projected presentations and combined the two  into a live web based broadcast so that delegates could view the full live version of the speaker and their presentations on the web at anytime. Click to view the speakers live presentations. 
  • Live twitter feed projected onto a side screen in the auditorium. Delegates were invited to participate in our TwitterQuiz during the course of the day and tweet the answers using the @EONSA hashtag. We tweeted questions relating to the days exhibitors, speakers and sponsors and via a lucky draw, one lucky participant won a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

Travel to the event.
240 members traveled to the event in Pretoria via the Gautrain rail and bus system, which worked smoothly and efficiently with 90% of delegates arriving on time fresh and ready for the day.

The food theme for the day was flavours of Africa, and the CSIR banqueting team did not disappoint. Trays of well presented tastes from African countries were delivered throughout the business session keeping the networking active and interesting.

It was our pleasure to host you, thanks for being there and contributing to a vibey awesome day.

Planning has already begun for 2013 as we take the Event Organiser Network Event to Cape Town and Durban.

Acquiring target...Target in range

Sounds like something out of a military campaign, but no, the target we are referring to is our delegate registration numbers for Event Organiser Network 2012.

To date 438 delegates have registered of which 251 have elected to travel by Gautrain.
68% of the delegates represent corporate entities and the balance trade buyers.

Our target is maximum seated capacity of 500 on the day and we have 5 weeks to achieve our goal.

Barrie Bramley @ Event Organiser Network 2012

The annual Event Organiser Network event has always provided great conference and event speakers, so we are undersatndably pleased to be able to announce that we have added Barrie Bramley to our speaker line-up for the day.

Barrie is a 'social software' activist, and joins a technically skilled and highly experienced team as the 'creative solution finder', working with organisations to help them understand this phenomenon, and how it can be used to enhance the environment to create a more authentic conversations between their people.

A finger fork lunch will be served followed by the final business networking session of the day. The program will complete in time for delegates to get a transfer to the station and board the Gautrain for the return trip to Sandton Station or....

....stay a while sip an enjoyable sundowner on the new CSIR deck.

Event Organiser Network Event 2012

After the 2011 event, we clinked glasses of elegant champagne, patted each other on the back and generally walked around with an air of confidence and infallibility. It was just then, that someone said "..and what are we going to do to top that next year". 

After recovering from our panic attack (and cleaning up the broken champagne glasses), we realised that the best way to better 2011, would be to keep all the good elements the same and add something different. 

2012 will again be hosted by the outstanding CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria. As before, we will offer delegates the opportunity to travel to the venue via Gautrain, ensure we have an even more delectable menu, a broader range of exhibitors and of course a knockout line-up of speakers and entertainers. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to come up with that 'something different' factor.

9/10 for Event Organiser Network Event 2011. Feedback and Evaluation results.

That's the consensus rating of the 380 Africa Conference Directory Event Organiser Network members, who attended the 5th Annual Event Organiser Network Showcase and Exhibition at the CSIR Convention Centre on 18 August 2011.

The evaluation results are in. We list salient member feedback below.

  1. 90% - Overall event rating.
  2. 88% - for event format.
  3. 84% - said the exhibitors were of good quality.
  4. 88% - said there were a sufficient number of exhibitors.
  5. 87% - made an event inquiry with an exhibitor on the day.
  6. 96% - felt exhibitor personal were sufficiently senior to make decisions about their inquiry.
  7. 79% - said they got new ideas for upcoming events.
  8. 97% - said taking the Gautrain to the event was convenient.
In brief, we got 9/10 from a day, free to our members that went like this:
  1. Delegates catch the Africa Conference Directory sponsored Gautrain from Sandton station to Hatfield Station.
  2. Registration and sumptuous breakfast at CSIR Convention Centre.
  3. Welcome by by Wayne Steven-Jennings MD of Africa Conference Directory.
  4. First session of four mind bending speakers Barrie Bramley, Douglas Kruger, Ray Patterson and Allan Heyl.
  5. Tea and Exhibitor Networking session. Delegates get to meet face to face with 150 venue and event products.
  6. 5 star lunch and body altering desserts.
  7. Afternoon speaker session. Graveyard session? Not with these speakers, Gavin Sharples, Justin Cohen, Shaun Tomson.
  8. Prize giving. Top prize worth over R15000 won by Retha Markram.
  9. Sundowner cocktails, sushi and other outer-worldly snacks on the CSIR deck.

We are delighted that our Event Organiser Network members perceived such excellent value in the event, since our primary aim for the event is to facilitate business and networking opportunities between buyers and event venues and services.

We have already started planning for 2012 and we certainly do not intend to be outdone by 2011, so watch out for upcoming announcements.

Africa Conference Directory's Event Organiser Network Annual Showcase and Exhibition

The 5th annual Event Organiser Network Showcase and Exhibition will be held at the CSIR International Convention Centre on Thursday, 18 August 2011.

The Africa Conference Directory, the event originators have arranged free travel on Gautrain to the event for all delegates travelling from Sandton station, including relevant bus transfers to the venue.
